About Nauman Khan

Transforming Technology, Delivering Results

With over two decades of experience in technology leadership, I’m Nauman Khan—a passionate technology executive who believes in the power of innovation to drive meaningful business outcomes. Currently serving as Senior Director at IWIS Tech – Wealth Solution for Canada Life, I lead diverse, high-performing IT teams in delivering large-scale, cloud-based applications that make a real difference in people’s financial lives.

My Journey

My path in technology began with a deep curiosity about how systems work and evolved into a career dedicated to transforming complex business challenges into elegant technical solutions. Armed with an MBA in Business & Strategy from Wilfrid Laurier University and an M.Sc. in Computer Science from Concordia University, I’ve built my expertise at the intersection of business strategy and cutting-edge technology.

What drives me? The opportunity to bridge the gap between business vision and technical reality. I’ve had the privilege of managing budgets exceeding $50M while leading teams that deliver game-changing solutions across the insurance, banking, and wealth management sectors.

What I Do

As a technology leader, I specialize in:

Strategic Technology Leadership: Defining and executing forward-looking technology roadmaps that adapt to evolving business priorities and market conditions.

Large-Scale Transformations: From implementing Guidewire Insurance Suite 10 to leading cloud migrations that reduce operational costs by 20%, I thrive on projects that reshape how organizations operate.

Team Development: Building and nurturing high-performing, diverse teams that embrace innovation and deliver exceptional results. I believe great technology starts with great people.

Modern Architecture & Cloud: Expertise in AWS, Azure, DevOps practices, and modern architectures that drive scalability and efficiency.

Notable Achievements

Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to lead several transformative initiatives:

  • Spearheaded the Lynx Project at Gore Mutual Insurance—a $50M technology transformation that made Gore the first Canadian company to deliver the entire Guidewire suite from personal lines to commercial, including auto and property
  • Delivered the Active Trader & Digital Customer Assistance Platform at TD Bank, recognized as “Project of the Year”
  • Led cloud migration initiatives that reduced operational costs by 20% while improving scalability and performance
  • Implemented DevOps practices that cut deployment times by 30% and enhanced team collaboration

My Philosophy

I believe technology should serve people, not the other way around. Every project I lead starts with understanding the human impact—whether it’s helping insurance customers navigate claims more easily, enabling wealth advisors to better serve their clients, or creating platforms that make financial services more accessible.

Innovation isn’t just about adopting the latest technology; it’s about thoughtfully applying the right solutions to solve real problems while building sustainable, scalable systems for the future.

Beyond Technology

When I’m not architecting solutions or mentoring teams, you’ll find me giving back to the community. I’m passionate about developing the next generation of technology leaders through volunteer coaching with Junior Achievement and contributing to various community initiatives.

I also believe in the power of sharing knowledge. Through this blog, I aim to share insights from my journey in technology leadership, lessons learned from large-scale transformations, and thoughts on where our industry is headed.

Professional Credentials

My commitment to continuous learning is reflected in my certifications:

  • PMP (Project Management Professional)
  • LPM (Lean Portfolio Management)
  • APM (Agile Project Management)
  • CSM (Certified ScrumMaster)
  • CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert)

Technology is evolving faster than ever, but at its heart, it’s still about people solving problems for other people. That’s what gets me excited about what we do, and it’s what I hope to share with you through this blog.
